A very happy EvoHoliday to everyone in our EvoFamily, including you, our EvoStories readers! We hope you are enjoying celebrating winter festivities and looking forward to ringing in 2022 very soon!

Evo is already celebrating a year of growth, and we are setting ourselves up for an excellent 2022: next year promises even more innovations both in our AI tools and across new areas as we expand.

These advancements require plenty of preparation, but all work and no play makes Evo a dull company. So yesterday we took a break and celebrated our EvoHoliday!

Yesterday was our EvoHoliday celebration, but no boring office party would suffice for us! Instead, we went on a half-day adventure in the Lingotto district of Turin, Italy. Turin is the location of one of our headquarters: the location where most of our product team is based. They wanted to share their hometown with the rest of the team, so we invited our entire remote team to join us for a celebration and tour of one of the most important, but less well-known, areas of the city.

Lingotto is the name of the original Fiat headquarters and now is applied to the entire historic district, also known as the automobile district. For our EvoHoliday event, we bundled up and visited some of the most iconic landmarks of the Lingotto district, including the old Fiat headquarters itself.

Team building and touring

Our first stop was the Turin Automobile Museum. For a few hours, we divided into teams and did a fun team-building treasure hunt. The theme of the treasure hunt was ‘Innovation: from the present to the future’, and each team was required to find exhibits and items throughout the museum related the theme of innovation throughout automobile history. This activity was a lot of fun, and it allowed us to explore our own understanding of innovation — and even consider how we plan to innovate as a company in the coming year.

After this innovative bonding, we headed off to the iconic Lingotto test track at the very top of the former factory. Now it is the Pinacoteca Agnelli, which comprises a beautiful hanging garden and art museum. We discussed how technology transformed the city of Turin over the decades and mused on our own place in this ongoing evolution. Finally, we warmed up at the Carpano Antico Vermouth Museum.

While the mood was light and festive, the theme of innovation allowed us to think forward to 2022 and all the exciting new challenges we plan to tackle. In fact, some of our team members chatted informally about fun new ideas. That is one of the best things about these events: when you have personal relationships outside the work context, you feel freer to think outside the box and find creative solutions. Plus, it’s just fun to be together in a more casual environment!

A toast for Evo in the new year

We wrapped up the day with a lovely dinner in the original Eataly location. Our CEO Fabrizio Fantini spoke of our achievements over the past year and elaborated his vision for what will come next. We were invited to provide our own feedback and ideas in the next few weeks to grow that vision further.

Then we left the Evo business aside and just enjoyed the great food, wine, and conversation with our EvoFamily. It was a time to relax and celebrate the end of a successful year together. We learned new things about our team members and shared stories.

Looking forward to reconnecting in 2022

Of course, the fun was muted by the absences of some of our colleagues around the world who were not able to join us. Many Covid restrictions are still in place, and we wanted to ensure not just a safe event, but also safe travels.

We are looking forward to EvoCon 2022 when we can finally all see each other in person again. In the meantime, our whole EvoFamily remains in our hearts this holiday season, near or far!

Have yourself a very merry EvoHoliday!

The rest of the month until our annual winter closure (December 25-January 2), Evo will be busy putting in place the foundation for a productive and innovative new year. We can’t wait to see how 2022 will unfold.

In the meantime, have yourself a very merry EvoHoliday and a happy new year!
