Evo April Spotlight: Kismet Keefe

Meet Kismet

This month, we’re going to get to know our Admin Manager, Kismet, a bit better.

Tell us a little about yourself, Kismet.

I am an Italian-American brought up in the States by an Italian mom and an American dad. After I graduated, I thought I’d test out life in Italy since I have relatives here. I hated it the first time around, but by the third time, I was prepared to stay here forever. And here I am in Torino!

In my free time, I’m pretty relaxed; I hang out with friends, my kids. We go out to dinner. It’s an excellent life.

What do you do at Evo?

I am the person that takes care of all the administrative and financial details in the company. Anything that doesn’t have to do with data science, marketing, or sales is me.

What do people not know about your job?

I’m not sure people always know what I do, but they know they can come to me with questions. I often end up as a bit of a wildcard, doing what I can to help the company grow.

How’d you end up at Evo?

That’s a pretty fun story. I was working at a school as an admin, but I was looking to get out of the school environment. People knew I was starting to look for a new role. I had a friend that worked at Toolbox, which at the time was where the Evo Turin office was located. She invited me to some networking breakfast at her building. I was supposed to go, but something came up at work at the last minute and I couldn’t. My friend still went without me.

That afternoon, my friend called and said, “You won’t believe this, but I just found your job.” She said she talked to the CEO of a small startup looking for someone with my exact profile. All that was missing was my name! After school, she had me come in, and I met Fabrizio, Evo’s CEO.

After that first contact, I had five interviews. Basically, the whole team had to sign off on me! And that was it. Five years later, I’m still here and loving it!

What do you love about your job?

I love the people I work with and the environment we create together. Evo’s got such a special team. With a boss like our CEO Fabrizio, we’re all pushing to achieve really great things.

And I actually like the detailed “busy work” that I do. Even though no one else likes it, I enjoy keeping everything organized.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced at Evo?

I’ve learned lots of new things! Every day is a new challenge. We’re a very innovative company, so I’m constantly learning new programs, software, strategies, ideas, and lots of new things. It’s a very exciting job.

What excites you about Evo’s future?

I am a strong believer in Evo. Fabrizio is a bit of a genius. He doesn’t just think, though; he does. He makes things happen. I believe in the people that we work with. The people who stay and become committed to the team are building something really impressive. They are all so dedicated to making an impact. We have an awesome team, and we’re going to go places.

What is it like working on the Evo team?

The Evo team is fantastic. When we come together, we have so much fun. Working here every day is a pleasure. No place I’ve worked before has had such a great team, especially one that works as well as we do with people all around the world.

How’s Evo different than other places you’ve worked?

First of all, it’s a remote working environment, and it has been a long time — even before Covid. For me, that was new. The ease of mobility that give us is great. You can work when and where you want, so long as you get your work done.

I also love the young atmosphere. Most people are a bit younger than me, but they are so passionate and professional. I just love working with them.

What advice do you have for anyone interested in becoming a part of the EvoFamily?

If you want to work at Evo, you have to go with the flow and be pretty flexible. We move fast and innovate constantly. Unless you are flexible to improve and keep an open mind to better ways of doing things, you’ll fall behind.

Anything else you’d like to share?

As always, I’m excited to see everyone in person at EvoCon! It’s so fun to learn more about who we’re working with. Sometimes behind the screens in remote work, you have no idea. They may come across not as nice or a bit shy, but face to face, they’re fantastic. When you finally meet everybody face to face, you discover just how fantastic of a team we really are.
